Job Description

We are currently looking for a part time cook to cover matenity leave for the next 9-12 months.

Marston Court is a 22 bed learning disabilty service based in Leicester.

We are looking for someone to work Wednesday and Thursday one week then Saturday and Sunday the following week. Hours are 8:30am - 4:30pm

Main function of the job:-

To manage the preparation and all meals of the service

Ensure hygiene and health and safety are maintained within the kitchen area.

Main duties of the role:-

  1. Create and maintain cooking and cleaning regimes (daily, weekly, periodically etc) for all areas of the kitchen in line with the Company’s quality philosophy.
  2. To ensure all aspects of the meal preparation areas within the service operates to acceptable standards.
  3. To prepare menus in advance in a regular and varied way.
  4. To ensure that all meals are prepared and presented to an acceptable standard.
  5. To ensure that any special dietary meals are prepared.
  6. To prepare and present food to a high standard and quality.
  7. To ensure that adequate stock controls are in place.
  8. To ensure that an inventory of kitchen equipment is updated and managed.
  9. To ensure that the meal preparation areas comply with all regulatory requirements.
  10. To ensure that proper quality control systems are adopted for all aspects of the meal preparation management.
  11. To ensure that food handling, cleanliness, health, safety, risk assessments and that all procedures required within the meal preparation areas operate to the highest possible standards.
  12. Maintain client and business confidentiality at all times

Personal Specification:-

  • Catering qualification to QCF level 3 or equivalent ideal
  • Food hygiene certificate
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Team player
  • Highly organised
  • Knowledge/experience of health and safety legislation
  • Knowledge of nutritional needs of service user group
